In 2010, we received a request to help a Wausau boy who requires costly orthodontic treatment.  Andrew is in eighth grade at John Muir Middle School.  He wears a hearing aid and has a medical condition requiring blood transfusions every five weeks.  Andrew has a severe overbite and misalignment of his teeth.  These conditions affect his speech, make eating a challenge, and bring unwanted stares and ridicule from strangers.  Despite these challenges, staff members at his school say that Andrew is a wonderful, kind-hearted young man with a positive attitude and contagious enthusiasm that has endeared him to his teachers and his classmates.  Andrew’s father lost his job during the economic downturn, and the family is unable to afford the required orthodontic treatment, which is not covered by insurance.

Remarkably, neither Andrew nor his family has asked for any help whatsoever.  Instead, staff members at John Muir took it upon themselves to help him and approached Emily’s Path for assistance.  Emily’s Path has enlisted the expertise of Dr. Richard Hovda, a local orthodontist, and the dentists at First Impressions, who have treated Andrew for the past 18 months in preparation for braces to correct his complex orthodontic issues.

Finally, the time has come, and Andrew will be getting his braces in the very near future!  Emily’s Path is raising funds to cover Dr. Hovda’s fee, which he generously reduced a substantial amount.

Your tax-deductible donation will help change this young man’s life forever.  If you are able to make a contribution, please donate today!  Thank you for supporting Emily’s Path.  Emily would be very pleased to know of the good that is being done in her name.  With your help, Emily’s spirit will continue to touch the lives of other children.
