Nine-year-old Vanessa Poole of Rothschild has both Down syndrome and autism. Often, Vanessa will wake at 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning, and go non-stop until bedtime at 9:00 p.m. The situation presented not only a safety concern but also disrupted the entire family’s sleep schedule. Vanessa’s parents – who also have four other children – struggled for years to find a solution to keep Vanessa in bed at night, even keeping her in a crib on the floor until she outgrew it.

When they finally found the solution – a bed designed for special needs children – their insurer refused to pay for it. The Pooles approached Emily’s Path, and we agreed to purchase the Safety-Sleeper Bed for Vanessa. Now, her entire family is finally getting some sleep! As a bonus, Vanessa LOVES her new bed!
